The mineral collection remarkably enlarged among the end of the 19th century and the beginning of 1900 with the contribution of\u00a0Antonio D\u2019Achiardi and its son Giovanni. The\u00a0<strong>mineral gallery<\/strong>\u00a0was opened to the public in 1994, redesigned in 2002, after the acquiring of the Cerpelli and D\u2019Amore collection, and set up again in 2014 including new collection.<\/p>\n<p>The initial part of the gallery is devoted to the\u00a0<strong>origin of the Solar system\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0<strong>historical meteorites collection<\/strong>\u00a0and includes the greatest Italian meteorite: the Bagnone\u2019s ottaedrite and a weight of 48 kgs.<\/p>\n<p>The central part of the gallery is devoted to the\u00a0<strong>Tuscany mineralogical collection<\/strong>\u00a0and is introduced by a great panel representing the lithologic diversity of the Tuscany area and a relief map of the marble area of Carrara realized in\u00a01906 basing on the geological studies carried out by Domenico Zaccagna.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0<strong>Tuscany collection<\/strong>\u00a0includes over 400\u00a0specimen, mainly from the Apuane and the Elba. Among these are particularly remarkable the enormous geocronite crystals from\u00a0Valdicastello (Pietrasanta, Lucca); the pegmatites of San Piero in Campo (Elba) among which a huge specimen with over 30 tourmaline crystals; the Del Taglia collection with 180 mineral specimens of the Apuane\u2019s marble; the minerals of the iron cave of the Elba and the wonderful crystallisation from Bottino (Stazzema, Lucca)\u00a0of the Cerpelli\u2019s collection.<\/p>\n<p>The gallery includes also a vast\u00a0<strong>systematic section<\/strong>\u00a0and a\u00a0<strong>lab<\/strong>\u00a0devoted to minerals features.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the gallery are still exposed the most representative specimens of the\u00a0<strong>D\u2019Amore donation<\/strong>,\u00a0among which the big geodes of quartz amethyst from Brasil and the celestina\u2019s crystal from Madagascar.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tiled-gallery type-rectangular tiled-gallery-unresized\" data-original-width=\"847\" data-carousel-extra='null' itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageGallery\" > <div class=\"gallery-row\" style=\"width: 847px;
